Hi, I'm trying to explain GM's watershed generation process in a paper, and am looking at the 2001 Planchon paper that describes GM's sink-filling algorithm (Planchon & Darboux, "A fast, simple and versatile algorithm to fill the depressions of digital elevation models; Catena 46 (2001) 159-176)). The paper's abstract says, "... this method is versatile: depressions can be replaced with a surface either strictly horizontal, or slightly sloping." I was wondering if GM's version of the algorithm uses the horizontal or the sloping surface method.

Thanks for any help...

    We use the sloping method.
