Finding an area in Path Profile

Hi,

Would anyone know how to generate a 2D polygon area in a Path Profile? For example, I cut a section across a river, and want to know the area of the depression based on certain elevation generated by a sub path from the profile. Image attached. I want to find the highlighted yellow area below the red line.

Thanks for your help in advance.

    Hello,

What you can do is use the cut/fill function to get a 2D cross-sectional area. Just use "Calculate Cut and Fill Volumes along a line feature" and make the "Corridor diameter around line" be 1 horizontal unit (looks like meters in your case). Then set "Use base height value for all vertices" to your desired elevation. The resulting "fill" volume (in cubic units) should be the same as the cross-sectional area (in square units) along the line. As a reality check, the "fill area" should be small.
