Custom Styles

I would really like to have the custom styles stored in the workspace file. For example, if I create and use custom point, line, or area styles, and then distribute a link to the workspace, it would be great if everyone else could see my custom styles. Currently I am stuck using the default styles.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think custom styles are stored in the file when exporting to a Global Mapper Package file.

Thanks for the suggestion. That works ok, but it's not ideal for my situation. I would rather not regenerate the package file every time one of the referenced files change.

Another thing that seems a little strange is that when I export the package file with custom styles the layers don't seem to "remember" what style they are. They are displayed correctly, but in options it says that they are unknown point features.

    Justin,

It is correct that if you save a package file with features containing any custom styles those styles will be stored in the package file and added to any system that they are loaded onto. They are not currently stored in workspace files, but if you want to add custom styles to a new system, you can just copy your custom_area_styles.txt, custom_line_styles.txt, and custom_point_styles.txt file from your Global Mapper install folder to the one on the other computer (with Global Mapper not running) to add them to the other computer.

A package file stores an individual type for each feature, so there is not any need to remember a default type for the layer. You can always change the type assignment for a layer after loading it if you need to change the type for all features in a layer.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

    Thanks,

Thanks Mike, this will work ok for me since I don't have a large amount of computers to copy the files to.
