Hi guys! A GM Newbie here.
I am importing my DXF file but doesn't show the elevation of the every contour lines. How can I show it?
I have attached the DXF for your reference. Thanks!

Hi AATorres,
You can do this pretty easily:
* Load your DXF file
* Open the Overlay Control Center (Tools / Control Center, or the Alt+C shortcut key)
* Select the overlay corresponding to your DXF file (the sample file that you sent showed as "505-1750.dxf")
* Click on the "Options" button
* Select the Feature Types/Labels/Elevations tab
* In the box labelled "Set up Feature Label Display", select the "Use Selected Attribute Value for Name", and choose the "ELEVATION" attribute
* Click the OK button
Thanks for using Global Mapper.

Many thanks Jeff! My problem was solved.
But, I have another problem with the Elevation. When I am exporting one DXF (with elevations shown) to PDF the elevations are included. But, when I tried to export 28 DXF file to PDF the elevations are not present anymore. -
Hi AATorres,
Are you referring to a specific file, or batch processing of 28 separate files out to DXF?

Hi Sam,
When I load the 28 files to GM then select all layers and show the ELEVATION attributes. It works perfectly, but by the time I would be exporting it to PDF. The output doesn't show any trace of elevations, unlike if I am exporting 1 file.
Thanks!

Hi Drei,
What is most likely happening on the output is that when you have more files loaded in , fewer labels are created not because of the number of files, but because of the extents of the data overall within the document. The label placement is all automatic and at larger scales, there are more "collisions" that prevent a label from being drawn. As you have seen, in some cases that can clear teh map of automatic labels. There is a setting you might try, under the Configuration menu on the Vector Display tab, there is a setting in teh list boc at the bottom, to "Always Display All Labels" this ignores all collisions and forces all labels to draw. The reason this is off by default is that this can sometimes casue a very cluttered appearance on the map. In a PDF, you might want to play with that setting in tandem with the Label Scaling setting to dial in the appropriate combinations. You would likely need to turn down scaling of labels below the default 1 to a fractional value.

Hi, how I can generate automatic labels in addition to those of the main lines of the surface in areas of flat or low-slope elevation.

Just to clarify, you would like to label minor elevation contours in addition to main elevation contours in areas with low slope?
One way to do this would be to digitize a polygon of your low-slope areas using the 'create area feature' tool. You could then create an additional set of contours just for this area by selecting that area using the digitizer tool, and, on the contour bounds tab of the contour generation options, select 'crop to selected area features.' You could then change the line style for those new contour lines to be identical to your other minor contour lines, with the exception of selecting the option to show labels.
