Does GM have a filter or process that creates a bare earth DEM from DSM LiDAR data? we are experimenting with aerial LiDAR data from UAVs and need bare earth data from the LiDAR.

Processing the RAW data is a new step to me.

You can use the automatic ground classification option on the Lidar module toolbar (you must have a Lidar module license) to automatically identify a large percentage of the ground points in an unclassified point cloud. You can then grid the ground points to get a bare earth DEM.

You can also use the Lidar module's binned gridding to do a minimum value bin grid (DTM) with a somewhat large spacing value (maybe 5 times the native point space) to get something close to a bare earth DEM in most locations. The exception would be the surface of large buildings where all points within the bin grid spacing are well above the ground.

    Thanks,
