Changing Attribute from string to integer

Hi Mike,
I made a mistake when generating contours and appended M to the name field. I removed the M and proceeded to do a lot of hours work on the file. Now when I export the shape file the ELEVATION attribute is classified as a string & it needs to be an integer. Is there any way I can do this?

Phil,

If you have Global Mapper v15.1 (get from Global Mapper Downloads) the Shapefile export dialog now contains a new tab for setting up the type and length of each field, so you can force the ELEVATION field to be integer if you'd like.

Hi Mike

I make the same mistake when generating contours.. appended M to the elevation field. So, is there any way to remove the "M" automatically? Maybe there would be some way through the attribute table, anyway I'm working with thousands of points and I wouldn't want to extract it again...

1. Provide a Name for the new field.
2. Set the field Type to a numeric type, such as Long Integer or Double.
3. Set the Precision and Scale if desired.
