Topological relationship between two sets of shapefile data?

I was wondering if there is a plan to add topology analysis. Basically, the ability to check topology relationships between (for eg.) two sets of area shapefiles:
1. find out what is the topological relationships between them:
- DISJOINT, TOUCH, OVERLAP, EQUAL, CONTAINS, INTERSECTS and so on.

Something like:
Polygon A contains Polygon 1, 2 and 3
Polygon A intersects Polygon 5 and 7
Polygon A equals Polygon 8

    Robert,

You can currently do much of that already with the Digitizer Tool in terms of intersection, crop, and combine. In addition if you select areas you can right-click and select the Advanced Selection option to select areas within the areas and find any that are partially overlapped or completely inside. Also duplicate finding is possible via script. So I think that covers everything :)

    Thanks,
