The NOAA Coastal Services Team has made GIS data including high res aerial imagery (0.5m) and LIDAR data available on the web via the Digital Coast web site.

Now the trick is going to be figuring out how to get a direct tie-in to Global Mapper.

Anything hosted as a standard OGC service, like WMS or WFS, should be able to added right in. If you find some cool ones that might be of general use to a lot of users let me know and I could perhaps add them as built-in sources.

There isn't really any kind of streaming service for Lidar yet (that I know of), but once some standard for that comes out we will likely add support as well.
