Apparent error in cut / fill areas

Hi, I am hoping someone can help.
I am trying to extract areas "fill" volumes from a DEM using global mapper to use in drainage modelling software.
I have followed the procedure for calculating cut/fill for an area shape. This appears to have calculated the fill/cut volumes ok, but the fill areas don't appear to have calculated properly (eg: 0.00008 sq m - is not correct). See attached screenshot / image.
GM volumes query.jpg
Unfortunately the modelling software program that I am extracting this information for requires areas at different levels rather than volume.
Can anyone suggest what I am doing wrong.

There were a few builds with some problems with the volume calculation. Can you try the latest build and see if you get the same answers? I have placed a new build at http://www.bluemarblegeo.com/downloads/global-mapper/global_mapper14.zip with the latest changes for you to try. Simply download that file and extract the contents into your existing v14.xx installation folder to give it a try. If you are using the 64-bit v14 version there is a new build at http://www.bluemarblegeo.com/downloads/global-mapper/global_mapper14_64bit.zip .
Thanks,

Hi Mike,
Thanks for the quick response, I have downloaded and installed the new version 14.2 (note I am using the 64bit version) but I still get the same outcome.
Do you have any other suggestions.... maybe I should try 32bit?

Sorry I miss-read your suggestion. I'm downloading your ZIP file now and will let you know if it works.

Hi Mike, Unfortunately I still get the same result with the zip file build applied.

Hold off I just tried this in the latest and am getting the same results. It looks like the area units are being converted multiple times, so they are much smaller than they should be! Fix coming shortly.
Thanks,
Mike

Thanks Mike,
I have a work around for the task at hand - back calculated approximate areas from volume - not ideal, but sufficient for this task.
I look forward to your fix. -
Ok problem fixed so now the areas are converted correctly! Great thanks Mike,
This has resolved my issue. -
Mike, After using GM for this task, I thought it might be useful to make a few suggestions for future revisions, I'm not sure if this is the correct forum, but thought I would post anyway.
1. What I want to do use the cut/fill volume for multiple shapes (each having a unique identifier) and export to a file with cut fill volumes identified for each of those shapes. There does not seem to be a graphic way of doing this. Such I have had to manually select each shape and then run the cut/fill volume function.... maybe this could be scripted?
2. I have not found a way to set defaults for the cut/fill volume function; in doing the task above I have had to manually change the parameters (cell size, method, levels etc.) every time.
3. It would be especially useful for my work if the same script would report the perimeter of the intersection at each level (i.e. length of contour) -
There is already some support for calculating volumes for multiple areas at once and getting a report, just not if you also use the height range calculation option. If you do the new option to calculate relative to the area base heights (i.e. calculate pile volume) with multiple areas selected you will get a nice report for each area.
I just updated the volume dialog to remember the height range settings so you don't have to keep re-entering those. I have placed a new build at http://www.bluemarblegeo.com/downloads/global-mapper/global_mapper14.zip with the latest changes for you to try. Simply download that file and extract the contents into your existing v14.xx installation folder to give it a try. There is some support in the Global Mapper SDK for calculating volumes of areas and lines, so if you have some programmers available (or you are one) you could write a simple program to do whatever you want. It's just not available in a script yet.
Thanks,
Mike
