I have checked in GM v14.1 and I can't find a way to 'Add GM Feature Name to the .dbf' while exporting to a shapefile.
My searches in the forum and help haven't yielded any answers, sorry!

There isn't an option for that, it is just added automatically to the DBF file whenever you export to a Shapefile and the features have display labels.

Apparently though, if there is already a NAME field in the data set GM won't override that field when exporting to a shapefile.
Is that correct? If so, any way to detect that and let the user select to overwrite or not? -
If you want to override the NAME field that is already there, right-click on the layer in the Control Center and select the CALC ATTR command, then assign the NAME attribute to the <Feature Name> with the Copy Value option. Then you will force the NAME attribute to be the display label.
Thanks,
Mike
