Export WMS raster at a chosen zoom level

Hello.

When exporting raster from WMS the output is always in the most zoomed, high detailed zoom level. Is there a way to export or save from a less detailed zoom level? It is a vector map with zoom dependant sized lines and texts, so thats why i need it to keep the sizes of objects at a far out zoomed level.

Calculate areas in imagery

I have the world imagery for an area loaded. Trying to work out the area of forestry. I can make the area of trees transparent by selecting the colour and this seems to give a reasonable representation. Is there a way of drawing a polygon around the transparent areas or areas of a selected colour.

Export from REST or WMS Raster Service hangs

I use export raster from a couple of different services. USDA NAIP is a good example. One version I do is a larger area at no more than 2' resolution. This has always worked until some recent upgrades. It will count up to 11%, then say not responding and fail, even if left to run overnight. I have 2 projects where it worked previously on Windows 10 Virtual Desktop and Global Mapper 25 I believe, but it won't work with Windows 11 (and have gone back and tried a Windows 10 desktop). We have also had some network updates in that timeframe. We have network license(s) of version 26.1 installed currently.

Exporting World Imagery as ECW

I am trying to export world imagery for an area as an ecw file so I can use it as a background image for an AutoCad drawing. I am having trouble with the export getting part of the way through and freezing (not responding). I have tried breaking the area into sub sections with a polygon (crop export area to selected polygon). I am exporting with a sample spacing of 3m x 3m. It worked for the first area but is not working for the area beside it.

Any thoughts on why this is occurring and what options I have to fix this.

The area is 10,400 Ha. I'm using 26.1 Pro. The ECW file for the one that worked is 433kb so it's not a huge file.

Any help much appreciated.

Exporting "World Imagery" is Slow

Does anybody know why for example exporting "World Imagery" always exports/downloads at such a slow speed, like 10 KB/s. Its not my internet speed as that is about 250mb/s.

Its been like this for years going way back.

How can I export a geotiff without the white square?, only the image...

Hi,

I have an ancient GM version 11 from 2009, and I can't find a single WMS source that it can read data from. Has something change in the GetCapabilities document that would prevent V11 from being able to read it? For example, this works fine in other programs:

GM V11 just says the server returned an invalid or unrecognized response. If I paste that in a browser, I get a perfectly good looking capabilities document. Any help would be appreciated.

Is it possible to determine the date of an ESRI World Imagery image? I know it can be done in ArcMap using the identify tool, but I can't find a way to do it within GM?

How do you export a region of a basemap to kmz/geotiff with less data

I would like to export a small region of World Imagery but the data set size is always very large and app hangs whenever I choose kmz or geotiff (web format)

When I rectify a jpeg using same Imagery as reference I can get a quick export by exporting as GeoTiff then converting geotiff to kmz, and all is well.

Is there a way to export the imagery (without first rectifying a screen shot) such that I get a quick geotiff download?

Am I making sense?

Manually adding ground control points

I have just purchased the latest version GM25.1. When I load an image which requires ground control points. I cant as GM freezes.

I have been a long time user of GM and was time for an upgrade. I run multiple scripts that require the ground control files.

I have only tried to do this with one image manually which I do need to do as well.

Has anyone else had this issue

Problem with downloading online imagery

While working with Global mapper, I am disturbed continuously/repeatedly with this problem since more than a year. Whether it's only for me, it's surprising. Upto working with version 23 it was ok. But since then-after, with every new version, I cannot load online imagery like world imagery or open topo or street map etc. It keeps on spinning forever and I have to close the project, the open the project with older version, then it works. While working with version 24 I had to open it in v23 for loading those imageries. Now working with v25, same problem but now it works with v24. Why is this happening? It's irritating that i am workin gwith newest version- want to compare results with imageries and then it hangs when I click online opening and habe to go back and open with older version. Any idea, anyone there?

Feature naming

Hello! I need 0.1 degree geotiff's of the earth's surface with names in the format "nLongitudeeLatitude" (n38e13). I select a feature of 1 degree size, then Crop/Combine/Split Functions/Subdivide Quadrilateral Area (divide 10x10 pieces). What should I do next to name correctly these pieces and to download them all? I tried Vector Options/Use Selected Attribute Value/ and put the X or Y attribute there, but it doesn't work.

Is there any way to download data from this arcgis source into Global Mapper?

I need help importing Mapy.cz tiles into Global Mapper 24 as raster.

Does anyone have experience with this mapset?

I tried to use in the 'Download images online..' dialog, the 'Add sources from file...' option and wrote an xml file with the parameters, but I keep getting this error!

Suggestions for exporting large amounts of satellite imagery?

Hi all,

Need help figuring out the best way to download satellite imagery (World Imagery) for a person who will be without internet connection (near the North Pole) for a month. The area covers an approximately 200-300 mile radius. The maps will mostly be used for flight planning. I know I need to tile the imagery, but it is more the resolution and format I am confused about.

Preferably I would like him to view the downloaded maps in Google Earth (which will be offline, of course), since he will be on a Mac and does not have Global Mapper.

I did a export test: (Export > Raster image > JPEG2000) of an area which was approx. 125 square miles, divided into 4 tiles. Each tile exported at around 350MB. It took 7 hours. They opened fine in Global Mapper, but I cannot import or open them in Google Earth (probably because they are so big). So, I tried to resize them in Photoshop, but it would not open them: "Could not complete your request because the file-format module cannot parse the file." I did another test where I downloaded NED maps of the same area as JPEG2000 files. These are only 450KB, so no size issue. They also will not import or open in Google Earth. Aargh!

OK - so then I tried exporting my raster imagery as KMZ. Got a very small area test to work, but trying to export a larger area has been unsuccessful (My box keeps locking up) or it says it will take forever, so hard to test.

Any suggestions on best settings for exporting (large swaths of) satellite imagery at a quality which will be good enough to view landforms, but does not need to be super-detailed?? And in a format which will work in Google Earth (open to other map viewers if need be). I tried screen capture but not good enough resolution, and also not geo-referenced.

Please note I am not a GIS person, so please pardon if this last question is “geo-ignorant”. Why, oh why, can’t I view the North Pole area in Nadir view? It only allows me to view from an angle, which makes it somewhat difficult. In google earth I have no problem with Nadir, but cannot view (that area) in Global mapper this way. (see attachment)

Identifying planfeatures using drone imagery/point cloud

I need to map specific plant features within my drone imagery and or drone generated point cloud. The plants have a distinctive colour and shape. Can I use Global mapper to identify these features? Will I need to use the point cloud or can I use the orthophoto imagery? If it can be done using the point cloud will need global mapper pro to enable the lidar module?

What process is required?

When selecting "Zoom to View in Google Earth", even for a small area I experience a seemingly endless cycle of Firefox clips sending to User Apps. that can only be stopped by (repeatedly) going to to Task Manager. No image results. Suggestions please? Using V22.1 + LiDAR module 64 bit.

Hi. There is a website, USGS Historical Topographic Map Explorer (https://livingatlas.arcgis.com/topoexplorer/index.html) that is a convenient way to download Geo TIFFs of historic topo maps. However, I am having difficulty using in Global Mapper 21.1 the first few I tried, receiving an error message "Unhandled exception running thread RasterOverlay..."

Has anyone else been able to use these files in Global Mapper?

Tile Service Not Displaying Correctly

Hi,

I am trying to get Global Mapper to display a CMAP using the 'Connect to Online Data' -'TMS' option.

I can get i to connect OK, however the data is never displayed correctly, no matter what 'Native Projection' option I chose, as can be seen below...

I have checked to make sure the URL/API information is correct using QGIS and all works OK with this software...

Therefore, can anyone help me understand what I am doing wrong with Global Mapper?

I thought this was added to GM in version 18 but I can't seem to find it in the pre-loaded online sources. As such, I've tried mapping to various FEMA WMS and WFS sites with no luck. I've tried every link available here with no luck. Any suggestions?
