Fabulous tutorial, Paul, which certainly showed me where I was going wrong. If you folks continue to respond as quickly and as competently as this to your customers' inquiries, you should surpass MapInfo by the end of the year!! :)

You mean like website names or point names? Yes, you can display site names when importing ASCII files

Nice tutorial. Is it possible to theme an imported shapefile (polylines) according to the values of one of the dbf columns? I need to be able to set the different values to different colors. i can't seem to see a way to link those values to the existing attributes in global mapper. Thanks

Good tutorial. I would like to import some additional data such as names for the points etc. when importing the ascii file. How is this done? I am using version 9 at the moment. Thanks

I followed your instructions with the below data. However, Global Mapper would not let me load the CSV data. Is it because it is in Degrees and decimal minutes instead of just decimal Degrees?

40º 00.459' N,-105º 15.967' W,BF082709-01

Trying to import a asc file and all the empty cells with no data are represented with a zero. Is there anyway to specify this null value as transparent?

I'm trying to import from ASCII file not just lat/lon but I also want in the file to specify the size, color, and label of the point. How do I do that?
