Just annouced this morning is the exciting news that Global Mapper Version 10 has been released! This has been a much anticipated release for those who follow the Global Mapper Forum and the program updates.

In case you missed the annoucement yesterday in the forum. Mike has announced that Global Mapper 10 Beta is now available for download. This download will run along any currently installed copy of Global Mapper so you don't have to worry about it installing over your current registered copy of a previous version.

Global Mapper Version 9.03 Released

As announced yesterday by Mike in the forum, Global Mapper has announced it's release of Global Mapper version 9.03

Version 9.03 adds many significant improvements. In fact, in the official realease notes I counted over 60+ improvements to version 9.02. Here is a short list of some of them:

I have just modified the download section so that even unregsitered users can download files. I'm doing this to encourage everyone to add and submit their files (open source) for everyone to use. I think this is a pretty powerful function of this site and want to really encourage you to submit your files if you have something to share with the community.

If you are having problems with the Global Mapper built-in search feature, I'd encourage you to download the latest Global Mapper build at:

http://www.globalmapper.com/global_mapper9.zip

According to Mike, there have been some very recent changes to the search web server requiring changes to Global Mapper. He has made the necessary changes to Global Mapper and you can download that file and extract it to your current version 9.x.x installation directory.

I completed a project recently using Global Mapper and thought that you might appreciate seeing how it was done. The project was creating a map comparing the ranges of two different aircraft. Mike, the developer of Global Mapper, announced this morning in the forum that he has officially released Global Mapper 9.02!

Amoung the many things added in this release are:

This is an awesome presentation tools when showing off your data. Especially if you client or customer is limited on GIS tools.

Global Mapper adds support for JGC and Starpal HGIS

Another raster format supported!

Starpal HGIS is a GPS software utility tool used in soil sampling and other field collection procedures.

I had a email today from someone who was requesting if Global Mapper could read the imagery exported from this program so that he could export Geotiffs. This email and sample imagery was fowarded to Mike, the developer of Global Mapper, who came through again!

Exciting Changes coming to Global Mapper Forum

Well, although it looks like the blog portion of this site has been stagnant, it has only been because of the heavy work I’ve been doing in the background preparing for a new look and platform for Global Mapper Forum.

I am planning to move to this new CMS platform hopefully, early next week. This might cause the site from time-to-time (mostly at U.S. night) to be unavailable.

Global Mapper 9.01 has just been announced and released!

There have been over 100 numerous improvements and tweaks to the program. But among all the changes, the most significant is the ability to export ANY loaded data for use with Google Maps (not just Google earth). In addition, a HTML file is created allowing you to instantly view the exported data with any standard internet browser! All you need to do is provide the API key (which is given for free from Google.com)
