Question Eliminating POI's from Base Map?

Looking for a suggestion how I might eliminate so many Points of Interest from the base map.

After all the MP files are compiled to IMG, another compile step is preformed to take the IMG files and make a new less detailed IMG file which acts as a base map. My base maps are cluttered with POI's and I'd like to have zero.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

I would suggest doing 2 sets of MP exports, one for the detailed data and one for the basemap. Simply turn point features off on the Vector Display tab of the Configuration dialog prior to doing the basemap export.

Based on your suggestion, it appears points get assigned all Levels and theirs no way to restrict points from the lowest two levels?

While your suggestion would certainly would work, it would entail a lot of extra time. If the base img file is indexed to the img ID number, and I suspect it is, then the gridding would have to be precise. Clearly a test would be in order.

    Appreciate the suggestion.

It is not the case that points are on all levels. The lowest bit level that a particular point is in will depend primarily on its feature type, although you can supply a MP_BIT_LEVEL attribute value (either with a feature or in the feature type's default attribute list) to override the bit levels in which a point feature is populated.

I do not know how the process of taking existing .img files to make a less detailed basemap .img works, so I'm not sure how you would have to have your points in the detailed maps to not get them in the detailed maps. That is more of a cGPSMapper question.

    Thanks,

    Mike
