Default Sending Multiple Images to KML for Animation in Google Earth

    Mike:

I'm importing 3D ASCII points to a surface then exporting them as images. The surfaces represent flow depth, with each image representing an individual time step. Can Global Mapper export PNG's and a single KML that references all the PNG's for animation in Google Earth? I can make this work by batch export to PNG then creating my own KML. I tried batch exporting to KML/KMZ. GM goes through the motions but no files were written.

    Tom,

You can batch convert the PNG files to individual raster KML/KMZ files using the batch convert tool, but there isn't a way to automatically create a single KML/KMZ file that references each of the PNG files individually.

    Thanks,

    Mike

Default Batch Export ASCII Text to KML

    Mike:

When I try to batch export my ASCII Text files to KML, no files are written. I can export individual files OK. Is this possibly a bug? It doesn't give an error and does show all the progress bars and messaage boxes. Just doesn't write the files.

    Tom,

What version of Global Mapper are you using and which KML export option are you choosing? Can you provide one of the files that you are trying to convert?

    Thanks,

    Mike

    Tom,

The problem is that you are choosing to export a vector KML/KMZ file rather than a raster one that can hold the rendered elevation grid. Just choose the ‘KMZ Raster (Google Earth)’ output option during batch conversion and your problem should be solved.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

    Thanks,

    Mike
