Default exporting multiple shp files

i have multiple viewsheds and would like to export them into seprate files.
i go the the export options and check the split into seprate files by feature layer/description. but i end up with only one shp file with all of my viewsheds contained in it. this wouldnt be so bad if the attrabute table contained what transmitter each viewshed came from.

is there an easy way to export my multiple viewsheds to multiple shp files?

The split by layer/description splits up the exports based on differences in the feature type names (i.e. layer/description), so since all of your view shed areas have the same type, they all go in the same file.

What I would suggest is exporting a Global Mapper Package file from your results. This will maintain a separate layer for each view shed. Then, do a batch convert from the Global Mapper Package format to the Shapefile format. You should get a separate shapefile for each layer (view shed) in the package file.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Thanks,

Mike

Can you post the package file or email it to support@globalmapper.com so that I can take a look? I would expect you to get a separate Shapefile for each layer in the package file. When you export the package file, make sure to NOT check the option to combine the vector features into a single layer.

Thanks,

Mike

The current version is v11.01, but within that there are lots of different build dates. The latest build has today's date.

I checked your file and found the problem was that the same SHP filename was being generated for each source layer. I have corrected that and now they export separate files for each one. I have placed a new build at http://www.globalmapper.com/global_mapper11.zip with the change for you to try. Simply download that file and extract the contents into your existing v11.xx installation folder to give it a try. If you are using the 64-bit version, there is a new build available at http://www.globalmapper.com/global_mapper11_64bit.zip .

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Thanks,

Mike
