Data collection with GM

I want to use GM on a laptop to collection XYZ data on a 160 acre parcel of land can GM regulate how many points are collected each Second or per foot and will it collect the data automatically

Global Mapper will record a track log of your data automatically (if you have the appropriate option checked under the GPS menu). It will automatically discard points that don't significantly alter the shape of the track so that you get a good balance of detail vs. data size.
