Global Mapper is a GIS Mapping Tool

More than one of our users has referred to Global Mapper as the “Swiss Army Knife of GIS”. In fact, this same user put together a very compelling PowerPoint presentation that you can see here

Perhaps this user was referring to the way that Global Mapper can bring in any supported elevation, raster or vector data, reproject, and export to any supported formats as well.

This presentation was created by Kent Brown and J. Buck Ehler from the Utah Geological Survey. They have been kind enough to share with us their Global Mapper presentation which offers highlights of a few of the major Global Mapper features and how that compares with the “traditional methods” of viewing and modifying GIS datasets. They present these features which they regularly use as blades on a “Swiss Army” knife.
