Hello TobWen,
I am not sure what it should look like, but I was able to load that file as a Raster and 'fake' the system to view it in Global Mapper v15.
EMF_File.JPG

How did you do this? I can't manage to open it at all.
-
Just open the EMF with File->Open Data File and specify to open as a raster image. Or drag the EMF onto a running instance of GM.
Thanks,
Mike

Argh... I'm stupid. Try to open it as vector.
Where do the big arrows come from?
EMF is a widly spread vector format, so why I shall I rasterize it? -
The EMF format isn't used much for mapping as it is just a drawing format and not good for attributes or real spatial data. Also the raster support is basically free as Windows handles decoding the various types into a nice bitmap for display. That said, I was able to update our EMF vector import to support everything that's in this particular file, like Bezier curves, so now it displays properly. I have placed a new build at http://www.bluemarblegeo.com/downloads/global-mapper/global_mapper15.zip with the latest changes for you to try. Simply download that file and extract the contents into your existing v15.xx installation folder to give it a try. If you are using the 64-bit v15 version there is a new build at http://www.bluemarblegeo.com/downloads/global-mapper/global_mapper15_64bit.zip .

Ok all fixed now, the EMF also loads in 64-bit builds.

You won't believe, how many people are drawing maps in PowerPoint or other apps like these, since they know how to work with it. They load the aerial image in PowerPoint and trace all the roads. EMF, WMF & Co. are a good way to export this data. -
VERY nice work, import from PowerPoint works nearly perfect, even the colors, but everything is mirrored on x-axes
Could you have a look please? gm15_ppt.zip -
The EMF format doesn't store normal mapping system coordinates but instead raw pixel coordinates, so Y increases down for EMF while it increased up for a mapping coordinate system, so by default the EMF will be flipped vertically. If you provide a scale factor of -1 for Y when importing it will have the orientation you expect, just the Y coordinates will be the negative of what the file actually has.
Thanks,
Mike

Have you tried opening the file with another software? You should try it like this maybe: http://www.paintshoppro.com/en/pages/emf-file/ if it doesn't work your file might be broken.
