clipping huge bitmap by shape is extremly slow

hi gm team.
i am trying to create a seamless map between spanish and french borders. sources are a few huge 1:25000 bitmap tif files (tiled and pyramided). global mapper is very fast with them in general. however, when i try to clip one of them (3GB geotif of french pyrenees) to the border of france (downloaded and imported as a shape file from http://www.gadm.org/ ), gm13 becomes unusably slow. the clipping works more or less, but it needs 10 minutes(!) to respond on every operation.
is there any chance this works better in later versions?
thanks,
joe.

Joe,
In the v14.1 release coming today or tomorrow there have been some clipping speed improvements. We also have plans for the v15 release to make clipping massively faster for complex polygons.
Thanks,
Mike
