I produce some fishing maps, and when I calculate my .grd files in Surfer I need to make a base map that covers the whole area, and some more detailed .grd files where the details are needed.

These files are alle put together in Global Mapper.

My problem is how to combine these different surfer files in Global Mapper, in a way that the difference in the depth that occour between the edge of the detailed map and the lower resuluton basemap.

Is there a way of making an average resolution, between the different .grd files, but only along the edge of the detailed .grd file.

Anyone have a good idear? :)

Thanks in advance

    Claus,

What you want is to feather-blend the layers. Just load your lower resolution data first, then your high resolution data on top. Open the Options dialog for the higher resolution layer and go to the Feathering tab, then setup feather blending around the edges. This will smoothly blend the higher resolution data on top into the underlying lower resolution data.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

    Thanks,
