Duplicate files in catalog

Hello Mike,
GM has been crashing a lot on me last night. Sometimes it would just exit but most of the time it gave me an "Unknown error. Global Mapper will abort" message. I think I traced the problem to be duplicate files in a catalog.
I was working on a new map and as I was progressing I copied new files in a folder that I use for a catalog and then I would just use "Add directory" and select that same directory each time. I thought GM would just load new files and didn't realize that it was reloading the same files multiple times. At a point it started crashing whenever the display had to be refreshed. After emptying my catalog and reloading the directory everything was fine.
Could you make GM skip files that are already in the catalog when we add a directory ?
Thanks.
Eric

Eric,
Which version of GM are you using? It should already skip duplicate files when adding folders to map catalog files, at least in the current release.
Thanks,

Mike,
I'm using GM 13, build b110111 (64 bits). The files I'm loading in the catalog are Geotif files that are contained within zip files, maybe that's why the check for duplicate isn't working ?
C:\Folder\Topo\a.zip
C:\Folder\Topo\b.zip
I tried adding the "Folder" directory twice and I also tried with just adding "Topo" twice. On both tests I ended up with 4 files (2 duplicates) in the catalog. -
Ok I will take a look, the use of .zip files is probably what is foiling the duplicates check.
Thanks,
Mike

Can you either post a couple of files that this doesn't work for or email to gmsupport@globalmapper.com? The duplicate check seems to be working for me and preventing duplicates.
Thanks,
Mike

I took a look with that file and was able to reproduce the issue and get it fixed (it was related to TIFF files inside the .zip not being detected as duplicates properly). I have placed a new build at http://www.globalmapper.com/global_mapper13.zip with the change for you to try. Simply download that file and extract the contents into your existing v13.xx installation folder to give it a try. If you are using the 64-bit v13 version there is a new build at http://www.globalmapper.com/global_mapper13_64bit.zip .
Let me know if I can be of further assistance.
Thanks,
Mike
