Odd Behavior When Moving Groups in Overlay Control Center (v12.00)

I have several groups in the Overlay Control Center (OCC):

Group A (2 overlays)
Group B (3 overlays)
Group C (10 overlays
and so forth.

All of the groups are collapsed.

I add a bunch of overlays and they are placed on the bottom of the OCC - that's fine.
I then create a group for the new overlays.

I move the group to the top of the OCC using the first button on the top right corner of the OCC. So far so good.

Here's where the odd behavior exists.

I want to move the new group down so it ends up between Groups A and B. I do this using the third button on the top right corner of the OCC.

Problem is, now Group A is shown twice. Each time it is listed it has only one overlay! So it looks like this:

Group A (1 overlay)
New Group with overlays
Group A (1 overlay)
Group B (3 overlays)

I would think that if any group is collapsed, the moving of another group or layer past a collapsed group would not cause a collapsed group to be split. The moved group/layer would just presume the collapsed group is one entity and move right past it without splitting the collapsed group.

I hope I'm making sense.

Is this the expected behavior when groups were introduced to the OCC? Or did something go amiss?

Thanks,

Paul

    Paul,

You are right, the behavior of moving layers with groups could be improved. I have updated the behavior to work as you would expect. I have placed a new build at http://www.globalmapper.com/global_mapper12.zip with the change for you to try. Simply download that file and extract the contents into your existing v12.xx installation folder to give it a try. If you are using the 64-bit v12 version there is a new build at http://www.globalmapper.com/global_mapper12_64bit.zip .

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

    Thanks,

    That did the trick!

However, and this may be a biggie.

After adding several layers and then placing them in a group, I collapsed the group.
Then moved it to the top of the OCC and then moved it down a couple of groups.

When it was where I finally wanted it, it was displayed expanded.

It probably should be displayed in the same manner it was before the move, i.e., expanded or collapsed.

Again thanks for such a quick fix!
