How large is the file that you are trying to load? It sounds like the file is too large to hold in memory. Do you have a 64-bit Windows machine? If so you could try the 64-bit v11 installer from http://www.globalmapper.com/global_mapper11_setup_64bit.exe as it supports much larger data sets.

    Thanks,

The files are quite large (500-600 MB) and unfortunately I do not have a 64-bit machine. I downloaded the files from the USGS CLICK site - do I have any other options?

That is a pretty large file for the 32-bit version of Global Mapper. Are you trying to open as a point cloud or trying to grid the data? If you have more than 2GB of RAM on your system, you can enable Global Mapper (and other compatible applications) to use up to 3GB of RAM rather than the default 2GB by following the instructions at http://www.finitesolutions.com/Support/Enabling3GB/tabid/70/Default.aspx. That may be enough to get the data loaded. Otherwise 64-bit is really the only solution, or having someone with a 64-bit version split the data into smaller files for you.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

    Thanks,
