Export to DWG - newer version?

According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.dwg there are alot of different versions of the DWG-format. GlobalMapper reads the DWG 2010 format, however it can not write to this. This is resulting that the input file in DWG 2010 format with size 60 MB will result in filesize 360 MB after export from GlobalMapper.
Can support for writing to DWG 2010 format be added to a future v12 release (ie are the specs available for you or are they a proprietary format?). Also perhaps it is nice to notify the user of the "version" of the DWG-export.
As a side note: I tried to Search: "DWG" on this forum, but the answer was "no results" ... Not sure if this is a bug in the search function?

No need to wait for v12, I have updated the DWG exporter to allow you to select which version to create, so you can now create DWG 2010 format files. I have placed a new build at http://www.globalmapper.com/global_mapper11.zip with the change for you to try. Simply download that file and extract the contents into your existing v11.xx installation folder to give it a try. If you are using the 64-bit version, there is a new build available at http://www.globalmapper.com/global_mapper11_64bit.zip .
Let me know if I can be of further assistance.
Thanks,
Mike

Hi,
Hope it´s Ok to continue in this thread,
I´m interested in knowing how to select dxf/dwg version in batch conversion.
I did try the "update" however I only find the option available in "export vectordata" and only for dwg?
Where can i find it or perhaps it´s not available?
Many Thanks,
Henrik -
Henrik,
There is not currently an option anywhere to select a DXF version. Global Mapper exports an older DXF version that should be compatible with pretty much any version of AutoCAD.
Currently the DWG version selection is only available through the File->Export Vector Data menu command. What I could do is make the DWG export through batch conversion use the DWG version last selected through that command. Would that work for you?
Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike,
That would be great if you could.
since we often do alot of batch conversion from Las to DWG and to be able to choose version is an importen part for us.
Mike, please tell me which version you use when exporting dxf.
Many Thanks, -
I have completed updating the DWG export during batch conversion to use the last DWG version selected when doing a normal DWG export. I have placed a new build at http://www.globalmapper.com/global_mapper11.zip with the change for you to try. Simply download that file and extract the contents into your existing v11.xx installation folder to give it a try. The DXF export uses AutoCAD R12 (version AC1009).
Let me know if I can be of further assistance.
Thanks,
Mike
