Area Measurement

I know that the measurement tool can be used to get the area of a map, in a manual way.
I have a ShapeFile loaded and would like to accumulate the area for all of the polygons in the file. I can do this with a script file in ArcView and other GIS system. Is there any way to do this sort of thing with Global Mapper?
I'm trying to get a feel for what limitations there are with the product.
Thanks.

We have recently added a tool to do that through the Digitizer Tool. You can now select all of your polygons with the Digitizer Tool, then right click and choose the option to display feature measures. This will list measurement information for each polygon and the total enclosed area as well.
I have placed a new build at http://www.globalmapper.com/global_mapper9.zip with the change for you to try. Simply download that file and extract the contents into your existing v9.xx installation folder to give it a try.
Let me know if I can be of further assistance.
Thanks,
Mike
