I use(d) Global Mapper for helping with planning flightlines for photogrammetry. We used to originally to display aeronautical rasters to determine airspace requirements and restrictions. It evolved into a project management system to help keep track of projects nationwide.

I use Global Mapper to provide mapping/viewing tools to engineers working on our multinational pipeline project. Almost everything to do with our project is viewable in our shared workspace. I have added all of the pipeline route data, valves, pump stations, access roads, right-of-way, workspaces, aerial imagery, topographic imagery, 10&30m elevation data, environmental data, TIGER data, etc... The list goes on and on, it has proved to be a very useful tool for us!
