Hey Mike, I have a NIR camera that I got with our eBee. What do you think about using the color data for ground extraction?

Currently the automatic ground classifier doesn't do anything with available color information, only the elevations of the points and the return number (if multi-pulse) are considered.

    Thanks,

I understand that, but do you think the NIR would be worth pursuing? I would be happy to supply data.

I'm not aware of any algorithms that use NIR imagery to identify ground points. Would they maybe do something like a NDVI or NDWI calculation on the multi-band color and try and determine what is vegetation?

If you have the Lidar data with the NIR encoded right in the LAS (or LAZ) as more than 3 color channels that would be interesting to have a sample of though.

    Thanks,

I have been really busy, but will do a flight as soon as I get a chance and see what is in the LAS file.
